SWIPE for BEFORE! We have finished Phase 1 of our great room remodel. We bought our house loving the land and amenities but many parts of the interior were far from our style. I’ve been a realtor and real estate investor for 18 years, so for me to finally work to put my stamp on a home and not just the generally appealing neutral that I always advise my clients to use or use in my flips was difficult. But I truly love the result. If you swipe through you’ll see how the great room looked when we purchased the house and when the previous owners styled it. The design was inspired by trishaspearsdesign and the decotvframes made a statement with 3 separate samsung Frame TV’s. I love being able to choose different beautiful art anytime I want. Plus now the focal point is beauty not a TV. We added hand hewn walnut beams to the room as well as using them as the mantle, replaced the poorly vented wood burning fireplace with gas, built out the front, and put in builtins to showcase decor and hide toys. I love that the space is functional and beautiful. For Phase 2 we have ordered a window to go on the perpendicular wall that overlooks the lake to replace where the previous owners had their entertainment center. I can’t wait for the lake view! At the end you’ll see it in real life with children coloring and me reading aloud both before the remodel and after. Because ultimately that’s what this space is for. To live in and to make memories with my 4 daughters.
